I have a bunch of bulbs, some HPS and some MH along with many different ballasts. Right now I need to put some Blue on my new Moms but I'm using all my 1000w ballasts. I do have a 600w MH ballast and 1000w MH bulbs available right now.

Any danger in running my 1000MH with my 600MH ballast????

Figure one of the BG guys would know this answer....

Thanks in advance.

Hey friend, you could risk burning all your plants and house down if using a bulb with a higher wattage rating than the ballast in which it is placed. I would not recommend it.

I understand you can't run a 1000w bulb on a 400w ballast, but is it acceptable to underlamp a 1000w ballast with a 400w bulb?

You can potentially damage both the bulb and the ballast. At the very least you will cut down on the lifespan of both.

BTW, are you sure you have a 600W MH ballast and not an HPS ballast?
