Ok I bought an ez cloner about two months ago when the weather where I live was about 78 to 83 degrees. The first few cloning atempts went exellent! All 8 sites in the unit got roots in about two weeks. Then after about two or three good cloning sessions something happened. I did everything the same, same water same nutes same cloning gell, But this time no roots just rotting tips. The only varient that I can come up with is that now the temp is around 88 to 95 degrees where I live. Is that whats going on? Did it simpily get to hot? Is that why the tips are all rotted and brown? Please Help..Dr. Dankenstien.

one thing to remember going from session to session is to sterilize. you want to run a strong solution of oxyblast (http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/go.asp?ic=NEGOB32&agent=TWEET) or H2O2 with the system running (without plants) to thoroughly clean the pump, manifold, sprayers, etc.

A lighter solution of Oxy Blast, Aqua Shield, Piranha, or Compost Tea (make sure its clean of debris or you'll clog) will also combat the bacteria that causes pythium or root rot as youre likely observing when the cuttings are in place. Pythium is pretty common when water temps are high is in constant contact with roots or stems.

What temps are you seeing in your ez clone res? Also remember another source of heat in your res is caused by the pump. Filling the res up to the sprayers gives as much water volume as possible to slow the heating process.

Other possible reasons are contamination of cloning gel or cutting blades. Make sure you pour out what you need instead of dipping directly into the container. And use clean disposable razors (http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/go.asp?ic=MRB2&agent=TWEET)or scalpels (http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/go.asp?ic=MRBSCLP&agent=TWEET) (which can also be sterilized with oxy blast).

good luck!
