So a friend was telling me that the CFM rating on CAN-9000 (110CFM Max) is listed wrong, and they can actually handle bigger fans. I noticed that in the GL80 accessory kit BGH has the CAN-9000 paired with a 142CFM fan.

So does that mean that my friend is correct? Just double checking.

Thanks

I believe the maximum CFM rating refers to the maximum CFM that the filter will allow to pass. While the filter will take a fan that produces a higher CFM, if you go too high the life expectancy of the filter will decline, and putting too much back pressure on the fan will cause excess wear and tear, higher electricity consumption and possibly cause the fan to generate excess heat as well.

The largest fan that CAN recommends for the 9000 is the 5HO, which I think may be a typo because they don't even have a 5" fan on their website (I think they meant the 4HO).

Thank you for the reply, David. Your response makes sense. I believe I will go with the 9000 and a 4" vortex, but I will dial it down with a speed controller.

Thank you for your time :)
