I was given a light fixtures that runs two 430 watt Son Agro HPS bulbs in a horizontal configuration. At each end of the fixture there is a galvanized household quality junction box with the wiring for each bulb, one at each end. My question is; Do I need two 430 watt ballast, one for each bulb ? OR Do they make a ballast that would run both bulbs from one ballast ? Any help would be very appreciated...

Hello joed, you will need to buy one ballast for each HPS bulb. The ballast will be used to start up the bulb and to allow the electricity to continue flowing through the bulb to keep the light on but not so much that the bulb may be destroyed.

I have heard of a 1000 watt ballast running two 600 watt bulbs.... Your ballast should be marked with the wattage on it somewhere... If it is 600 watt, it might be setup to run two 340 watt bulbs???
