Hello... My name is Tammy and I am beginning a small, indoor hydro garden (Bubbleponics). I am confused about whether or not to add nutrients when adding rockwool with seeds (not seedlings). I am reading what seems conflicting information.

I am thinking NO nutrients until I see seedlings.

I hope I am giving enough information.

I have been told that the seed has everything it needs to sprout and get the leaves above the surface, after that the roots and leaves take over collecting water, nutes and sunlight. I use only water til the plant is about two weeks old, then add nutes at about 1/4 strength to not burn the new plant. Then I start slowly ramping up the nutes til its at full strength.

I have to agree with Twilly on this one. I think that you get a much better root structure if you make your seedlings search for food for a bit. I am using Advanced " Micro, Grow, Bloom " and on the bottle it gives a strength to use on seedlings. I found that this was so strong it killed some of my seedlings so you will have to experiment with your setup to find the right amount.
