Hello

I'm planning on making a homemade hydroponics system, and I want to use a PVC pipe for the tray (because its cheap), but this guy from a hydroponics store told me "you are using acids to adjust the pH of the nutrient solution and acids eat away at the plastics, causing toxins to leech into the rootzone, thus into the plant tissue."

I've seen a lot of other pictures of people using PVC.

Is this true ? Or is he just trying to sell me stuff?

If anyone out there has used or knows anyone who has used PVC for they hydroponics system with success or failure, please let me know!

Thanks

The acid we use to lower the pH of the nutes is diluted (10%), and does not react with the plastic. Most of Hydroponics modules are made of plastics and PVC pipes. Don't worry and go a head for building your own unit.
