a carbon dioxide generator does not need a Co2 controller. you can plug the generator directly into a wall outlet or to a simple 24hr timer, but is neither cost effective nor efficient. the addition of a co2 controller allows you to consistently hit co2 targets with the least amount of fuel or bottled co2 required. other recommended accessories are chain to hang the unit and floor or wall fans to circulate co2 back up to the plant canopy.

not sure if the second post is related to the thread topic in wondering if a carbon filter attaches to the exhaust on the generator, but just to clarify carbon filters and carbon generators are not used in conjunction with each other. air scrubbers will typically sit inside the room with exhaust air being pulled through the outer sock, through the carbon, and out through the fan..

make sure your room is sealed and your exhaust is off while you are enriching with co2 or all your fancy equipment will bring you back to square one. an off switcher (http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=AACILS120OFF&eq=&Tp=) connected between your co2 monitor and exhaust fan will make sure the fan doesnt come on while the co2 is on. if you go with the IGS-61 (http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=AACIGS061&Tp=) as your co2 controller, it also has a high temp shut off so it will kick the unit off and allow your fan to exhaust hot air.
