Default Can to much light hurt your plant?

Will a 600 w light hurt plants if the grow area is only 3' x 2'?

100w/square foot is high. A better range is 30-50w/square foot.

You may get leaf-burn from this much light.

    Default too much light?

The answer to this question depends on many different things. 3'X2' with a 600W for plants that require higher light is fine. There is a growing group of people using 3 - 1000W HPS over a 4x8 area, and I heard of running as much as 4 - 1000W over a 4x8. So the plants can handle the light output as long as you increase everything else. Cooling the room, increasing the CO2, increasing the nutrients, all these factors come into play when you increase the lights to your plants. Or you can just raise the light source from the plant tops. Usually I recommend 3'x3' with a 600W, if this is your only source of light, so not too far off.
