    Default PH up/down

can regular products like vinegar be used for ph down?

what is a good household item for ph up?

or is better to just buy the ph up and down at the local hydro store?

    Thanks

    Default Generally, no

In a pinch, yes. But they are no substitute for the real nitric acid / phosphoric acid ph control solutions that you get from the hydro store. The reason for this is that the hydro solutions contain buffers which make the ph effect long lasting and resistant to change. With lemon juice or vinegar, the solution will not be buffered and the ph will revert and destabilize within a few days.

Stability will also depend on your water. If it's tap water, you're doomed to dosing often anyway until you overcome the buffers in your water. If it's RO water, it'll be less bad, but still tricky compared to ph up and ph down.

Yes baking soda can be used not only to replenish the ph It also helps purify the water and once the ph gets to 10 most all suspended particle will fall out of the solution .
