Default Seeds in Rockwool, I have no clue.

I recently got some of the smaller rockwool cubes used for seed germination. I stuck the seeds (lettuce) about an inch down and put some solid plant food over them. I then put some water on the rockwool (moistened it) and let them sit.

After 5 days, most had sprouted.

I repeated this process this week, and nothing. Not a single one. I am only letting them get 4-5 hours of sunlight a day.

I know I am probably doing this all wrong. Is rockwool suitable? What variables would you recommend I change / what is a better way to start lettuce?
