Tomato Seeds

Hi, I have placed some tomato seeds into damp paper towel and placed within a clear zip bag and placed onto a hot sunny window sill. Once they start sprouting im gunna place into a sponge cube and into my hydro system with clay balls.. can anyone advise how often to water? so i keep the cube moist or should i allow it to dry a little? very new to all this.

your hydro system will keep them watered if its set up right give more info on it and we can help you out good luck with it

hi,

i have a homemade ebb flood and drain system, the sponge i am using is artificial, i made 4 holes in it and dropped 4 seeds into this. I then placed a small amount of water so the sponge was moist but not dripping. I have then placed into a propogator dome on a sunny window sill. Will i have luck in germinating?

I was also thinking, once they develop a sprout, should i sit them into the ebb? if so will they continue to develop?

If so could i just place the seeds into a sponge cube and set my ebb to touch the bottom of the cube and start it off germinating / grow that way?

win they develop a sprout 1 inch long it's a good time to plant them ...if thay dont germinat in that you can plant in dirt then transplant them just wash off the dirt . ----If so could i just place the seeds into a sponge cube and set my ebb to touch the bottom of the cube and start it off germinating / grow that way?---yes thay will grow aslong as thay get the water in your system .your seed's will germinat in your propogator dome butt if not dont get mad just try agen ..
you can start seed's in your system .butt your propogator dome is a better way ..good luck

Hi,, so my tomatoes finally developed about 1 cm taproots, i then placed them into a artifical sponge which holds the seed and a hole so that the taproot can grow downwards towards the flooding system, my question is, will the taproot keep growing dowards until it reaches my water level limit in my hydro or should i raise the water level in my hydro to touch the taproot? at the moment i am watering from above so the seed doesnt die, will the taproot know to keep going down a further 2 cms to get to the water??

I think you should know more about hydro system, you also ask some people who have experience about it ,then you will find which situation is best for it ,good luck to you
