I have grown houseplants for years in only water, with the roots completely immersed all the time. I have been reading about HP and am not clear about whether the roots should be immersed or not. Can someone help?

One of the advantages of hydro is that roots have ready access to air/oxygen. You can do this by suspending the roots in air (aeroponic) or in highly oxygenated liquid (hydroponic).
